Scottish Tech Startup Awards 2019
Hardware Startup of the Year
This award recognises the Scottish technology business building the most exciting new hardware on the market. From wearables to robotics to satellites, this category celebrates companies putting technology to work in the physical world, for both consumer and commercial applications.
WHAT THE JUDGES ARE LOOKING FOR:
Product innovation (50%): does the company articulate a clear and distinct product vision? Are they developing novel technology, that creatively integrates hardware and software to solve a tangible problem for their customers?
Disruptive potential (25%): does the company have the potential to have a significant impact on an existing market, or to create an entirely new category? Are they well-positioned to take advantage of the market opportunity, and do they appear to have a cogent strategy to do so?
Exciting growth (25%): is the company showing impressive growth potential, whether in terms of customer adoption, revenue, or major accounts/deployments?
Defining startups is a tricky business; we’re using a broad definition of ‘startup’. Eligible companies will build and sell hardware, and will generally meet at least two of the following criteria:
They have been operating for fewer than than 10 years
They have less than £10m in annual revenue
They have raised less than £10m in investment capital
They have fewer than 100 employees
This Award is only open to companies headquartered in Scotland.
